What Novel Atlas is, where the data comes from, and what it deliberately does not do.
What this is
Novel Atlas is a visual information site for novels. It combines the public catalogue of mainstream novel platforms with quantitative analysis derived from chapter structure, and presents them as a browsable, comparable set of charts — so a reader can form a judgement about genre, structure, cast and reception before deciding to start reading.
Why build it
Conventional rankings give a single number or a single rank, leaving no way to see where a work is tense, which characters matter, or whether the pacing is fast or slow. Drawing those dimensions produces intuition faster than reading ten reviews.
Data and method
Index data comes from public category and ranking pages; only bibliographic metadata is collected. Deep analysis models chapter structure to quantify tension, hook rate, dialogue share, emotional distribution and character screen time. Every figure is a statistic — no source sentences are reproduced.

Interpretation
A three-step pipeline from index to atlas.
- Measured
Verifiable fields taken directly from the source platform (title, author, word count, chapters, category, tags) with no processing.
- Curated
Structured analysis produced by an editor reading the work chapter by chapter — characters, plot beats, foreshadowing and structural judgement.
- Modelled
Form-level indicators derived deterministically from genre archetypes, real tags and real length. These are typological estimates, not official evaluations by the author or platform.
What we do not do
- We do not host, store or republish any novel text.
- We do not offer in-site reading, downloads or chapter links.
- We do not collect personal data, and the site carries no third-party tracking scripts.
How it is built
The site is built with Nuxt 4 and Vue 3 single-file components, server-rendered so the first paint is fast and the content is indexable. Styling uses the Tailwind CSS v4 design-token system. All charts are hand-written SVGs generated at runtime with no chart library, supporting both themes and mobile layouts.

An API-ready data layer
All data ships as static JSON whose field structure follows a real API contract. Wiring up a backend later means replacing the data-fetching layer only — pages and charts stay untouched.
